The VisionSustainable farming in a remarkable ecosystem.

Silver Spring Ranch is at a historic junction. We are transitioning from traditional barley & alfalfa farming, into an agrarian, back-to-the-land approach. With so much impact on our world-famous fisheries and wildlife in Idaho, we are treating our springs & water as our most valuable resource.

The Mission StatementWe put the land first.

Idaho is home to pristine, fresh water, streams, rivers and renown fisheries. Being stewards of the headwaters of one of the most famous streams in the country comes with a great amount of pride.

Our mission is to monitor the flow of water coming into our 3,500 acre ranch, manage how we use that water while coexisting with the ecosystem, and insure the spring waters are benefiting wildlife, fish, and recreation in our region.

Our path. We’re investing in water management in a serious way.

We've got an important role as ranchers and farmers. We have water flowing onto our ranch, water in our groundwater aquifers, and water surging up through springs to create world famous stream tributaries. We want to understand the impact we make so we can farm better and value the land and water resources.

Awareness

Ranching and farming in this distinctive valley has a history of change and impacts. Our land has seen grazing, well pumping, flood irrigation, mining, a variety of different crops and farming practices, and a lasting effect on the landscape and streams.

Action

Ranching historically had an unnessasary overuse of water. The way each farming practice is carried out affects the local and downstream ecology. Through our management and educated decisions we can have minimal impact or even a positive influence.

Education

We’ve learned from the best and started farming a different future for our land. It’s all about data and decision making for Silver Spring Ranch.

clear impactA rewarding endeavor.

Clear water, abundant wildlife, and a healthy trout fishery. This is what Silver Creek is known for. With an impact on our local economy, fishermen travel from around the globe to stand or float in the pristine waters that make this part of Idaho an attractive destination. We want to expand our thinking to other headwaters property owners, to give a legacy of world class fishing and exploring to anybody that travels to these rural areas.
